This research study funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute called the Cardiovascular Inflammation Reduction Trial (CIRT). The main goal is to see if reducing inflammation can lower your risk of having a future heart attack, a stroke, or dying from heart disease. You may be a good candidate for this study if you meet the following criteria
- History of Heart Attack or Major blockages in more than one coronary artery
- Diabetes or Metabolic Syndrome (which puts you at a high risk of developing diabetes)
This is a long-term prevention study. Study participants could remain in the study for up to six years and potentially complete thirty in-office study visits, you may be contacted by telephone by the study staff in-between regularly scheduled in-person study visits. This study will last for approximately one year and require six in-office visits. You will be monitored carefully by a team of medical professionals. All study-related medications and assessments will be provided at no cost to you.
